Artemis is the first female admiral in the women’s history of Iran.Xerxes chose her as an admiral 2480 years ago.
She is the first woman in the world who became navy commander in the world’s maritime history.
In 484 BC, when Xerxes order to mobilize naval forces to fight against Greece
Artemis joined Iran navy forces. In this fight Iran could occupied Athens.

Artemis took part in The Battle of Salamis in 480 BC under Xerxes’s command. This battle was between Iran and Greece. She appeared very well in this battle and was admired by so many people. In one of the most difficult conditions in The Battle of Salamis She could save parts of Iran navy and Xerxes’s chose her as an admiral.

As Herodotus said, Artemis had provided five ships in the Xerxes sea territory which are the most famous ships after Phoenician ones. In The Battle of Salamis, as she was being chased by Athenian ships and it was impossible for her to scape, she did something perfect. She fired one ship of enemies and made it Drowning. By doing so, the Greek commander stop chasing her. After that she was even more respected by Xerxes. Xerxes was monitoring how Artemis was controlling the army and how she could save the Iran army. When Xerxes saw the performance of Artemis, he said:”men changed to women and women changed to men.
It is said that Artemis proposed to Xerxes, but they did not get marry for some reasons.
